Comfortable cap, fibers unruly, stock image misleading, difficult to style
I have alopecia universalis and have been wearing wigs for 5 years now. This is my first Belle Tress wig. I wanted a simple, straight style that was a bit longer than a bob but also had a hand tied cap. I also wanted it to be heat friendly so I could smooth out the fibers easily as needed. This wig fit all my criteria. With that said, this is the most difficult wig I've ever had to work with. Most of the wigs I buy I can wear out of the box. I've owned wigs by Jon Renau, Estetica and Raquel Welch and have never had an issue with wearing any of of them out of the box or styling the heat friendly fibers to my liking, but this wig has proved a big challenge. I wanted to change it to a middle part. Usually I can just use clips over a few days to change it to my liking. This did not work at all for me. So, I took my flat iron to it and it took me over 30 minutes to tame one side of the wig. Then, it took another 15 minutes to tame the the ends a bit so that they would curl under slightly. I used water on the fibers and usually that helps to speed things up but it didn't seem to make a difference on this wig. Out of the box it does not curl under at all or frame your face, like shown in the stock image. So it took me nearly an hour to get the wig to look similar to the stock image. The most annoying part of the wig are the hairs that stick straight up by the hair line. It looks like static, but it isn't. They are very short, loose hairs that refuse to lay flat. They aren't part of the bangs and I'd say they are like 2-4 inches in length. I don't know if it's because it's a razor cut, but their length makes them look like flyaways. I tried to tame them with heat, conditioning spray, water, etc. and nothing would tame them so I finally cut a few. I purchased the wig in Butterbeer blonde, which is a bit lighter than I normally go. The color itself is beautiful, but may not be the best fit for me, though it is growing on me. My natural color is strawberry blonde, so I tend to look better in those tones, but wanted to change it up a bit. I likely won't order this wig again in another color which was what I had planned to do and now I am wary of Belle Tress due to the issues I've had with this wig.
